The EV Owner's Garage
A Level 2 charger, backup power, and real bench storage for one garage bay. This build turns daily EV charging into a solved problem instead of an extension cord, and covers what happens when the grid doesn't.
What needs an electrician
Any hardwired charger, and any circuit sized above what an existing outlet already supports, needs a licensed electrician to confirm panel capacity and run the circuit. Plug-in chargers using an existing correctly rated outlet are the exception. Requirements vary by jurisdiction, so confirm scope and permit needs with your electrician and local authority before you buy.

How this ships
The chargers and the workbench in the Essential and Complete tiers ship standard ground parcel — no freight appointment needed. In the Full Build, the Husky 56 in. workbench weighs 472.5 lb and ships freight (LTL), curbside only, so budget for help moving it into the garage. The MaxiCharger 80A ships parcel at approximately 20.3 lb. Battery shipments like the POWISER VOLTX 3 ULTRA 12K can carry lithium-battery handling restrictions; confirm exact shipping weight and method with us before you order.
Estimated timeline
A plug-in Essential install is typically same-day. A hardwired Complete or Full Build install runs 1-3 weeks out once you book an electrician, longer if a panel upgrade is needed — get an electrician's estimate before you order hardwired components. See the charger buying guide or head back to Build Your Garage for the rest of the project pages.
