Description

The Smart Transfer Switch is a wall-mounted 120/240 V transfer panel for one or two Explorer 5000 Plus stations. It feeds up to 12 branch circuits and moves them onto battery power when the grid drops.

All backup energy comes from the stations and their packs, and it works with the Explorer 5000 Plus only.

Shipping and Delivery

Delivery: Free within the 48 contiguous states. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.

Weight: 25.6 lb.

Key Features

Circuits: Up to 12 branch circuits at 120 V or 6 at 240 V, each up to 30 A.

Switchover: 20 ms or less with UPS on in the app and the station on and not charging. About 5 seconds with UPS off, and about 1 second if the station is charging when the grid drops.

Power: Up to 14,400 W with two stations, and 7,200 W with one.

Energy: Manages up to 60 kWh, from two stations and ten packs.

App: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for monitoring, remote circuit control, and backup priority. Circuits you mark as nice to have shed at a set threshold and stay off until you turn them back on.

Charging: Charges the stations from the grid, using the backup reserve and peak or off-peak plan you set in the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it export power to the grid?

No. It doesn't export to the grid.

Does it connect to my solar panels?

No. Panels connect to the station. AC-coupled rooftop solar on your home panel is compatible, but it stops during an outage.

What does the paid extension require?

Installation by a certified electrician, at a fixed address, not in an RV or mobile home.

Shipping & returns

Free shipping Shipping is included in the price, to the contiguous U.S. Full timelines are in the shipping policy.

Returns follow the stated return window — see returns & exchanges. Freight returns are arranged by our team.

Lithium battery shipments travel by ground only, never air, and can carry destination restrictions. Feeding household circuits through a transfer switch needs a licensed electrician, who will tell you whether your area needs a permit and inspection.

Power & Backup · Jackery

The panel that makes backup automatic

The Smart Transfer Switch is a wall-mounted 120/240 V split-phase transfer panel, not a battery: it feeds up to twelve branch circuits from one or two Explorer 5000 Plus stations and switches them over in 20 ms when the grid drops. This is the piece that turns portable stations into whole-circuit backup — installed by a licensed electrician.

Installation is electrical work for a licensed electrician, including any permit your area needs. Book the electrician before ordering — the install decides the timeline, not the shipping.

Not a battery — it has no capacity or outlets of its own. Backup energy comes from the connected Explorer 5000 Plus stations and their packs.

Who it is for

For the station that should feed the panel

This is a wall-mounted 120/240 V transfer panel, not a battery. It has no capacity or outlets of its own. It feeds up to 12 branch circuits from one or two Explorer 5000 Plus stations and moves them over in 20 ms or less when the grid drops. • 12 branch circuits

    As 12 at 120 V or 6 at 240 V.

  • 20 ms or less

With UPS on in the app and the station on and not charging. About 5 seconds with UPS off.

  • 14,400 W passthrough

The maximum, at 120/240 V with two Explorer 5000 Plus stations.

  • 60 kWh ceiling

The most backup energy it manages, from two stations plus packs.

Plain answers

Can I install it myself?

Only if you are a fully certified and licensed electrician. Installation is electrical work, including any permit your area needs. Book the electrician before ordering, because the install decides the timeline, not the shipping.

What does my panel need?

The grid input is 120/240 V, 100 A maximum, and it needs a 100 A two-pole breaker, not included. Grid conductors are 2 AWG with a 6 AWG ground, and the branch circuits 14 to 10 AWG. Your electrician will confirm the fit.

Which stations does it work with?

It is specified for one or two Explorer 5000 Plus stations. It does not work with the HomePower 3600 Plus, which uses the Manual Transfer Switch. Ask us before ordering it for any other station.

Where does it mount?

On an indoor wall. It is NEMA Type 1 and IP20, rated for -4°F to 113°F, at 22 x 14.7 x 7.87 in and about 25.6 lb.
