Description

The Explorer 1500 Ultra is the IP65 station we carry: 1,536 Wh and 1,800 W, rated IP65 with all lids closed, for use where splashes and dust are part of the day.

IP65 has limits. It covers everyday splashes and light rain with the lids closed, and the ports lose that protection once a lid is open. For a faster UPS, look at the Explorer 1500 v2.

Shipping and Delivery

Delivery: Free within the 48 contiguous states. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I leave it in the truck all season?

Check the temperatures first. It stops charging below 32°F, and storage past 3 months needs 32°F to 77°F.

Can I rinse it?

The cooling fins can be rinsed with the covers closed and the bottom panel removed. Dry it fully before use.

Plain answers

Weather, tools and charging in the field

Can it stay outside in the rain?

It is rated IP65 with all lids closed, which covers everyday splashes and light rain, but it is not fully waterproof. Keep it out of direct rain when a port is in use, and do not charge it in the rain.

Will it run corded power tools?

1,800 W continuous covers most hand-held corded tools, and the 3,600 W surge ceiling is what absorbs the start-up spike. Total the wattage of what will actually run at once rather than working from a single tool's plate.

How fast does solar refill it?

Up to 800 W across two DC8020 ports, 400 W per port, in a 16–60 V window. At 800 W it recharges in about 2.5 hours. Ask us before combining panels.

Does it have UPS switchover?

Yes, at 20 ms, with 1,440 W available before an outage. It is not a 0 ms UPS, so do not use it on equipment that needs uninterrupted power. If a faster switchover matters, the Explorer 1500 v2 states 10 ms.

Before you order

Shipping and delivery

The unit weighs 38.6 lb (17.5 kg) and measures 13.2 x 10.4 x 11.6 in, inside standard parcel limits.

This unit contains a lithium iron phosphate battery. Lithium battery shipments are subject to transport regulations and can carry service or destination restrictions. Confirm with us before ordering to a remote, island or non-continental address.

Installation requirements

None. This is a plug-and-play portable unit: loads plug into it, not into your house wiring. Connecting any portable power station to household circuits or a panel is a different job for a licensed electrician, who will tell you whether your area needs a permit.

Warranty and returns

3 years from purchase. Returns are handled under our return and refund policy.
