Tailwind iQ3 2.1 Smart Garage Door and Gate Controller — Up to Three Doors or One Gate
Description
The iQ3 2.1 runs up to three garage doors, or a driveway gate, from one controller and one app. Open, close, and check each one from your phone, and have a door closed again if it is left open at night. For a single door, the iQ3 2.0 does the same job for less.
It adds three things over the 2.0: up to three dry contact openers with the additional door kits, openers with separate open, close, and stop terminals, and a 12 to 24 V AC or DC input that can run from a battery or low-voltage supply at a solar-powered gate.
Shipping and Delivery
Delivery: Free standard shipping on orders of $100 or more within the 48 contiguous states, and $12 on smaller orders. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
Key Features
Multi-door: Up to three dry contact openers on one controller, depending on the opener model. The first door connects to the controller, with a sensor option for dry contact, and each further door needs an additional iQ3 2.1 door kit.
Second generation: Digital control for many newer openers, an input that reads the opener's safety sensors, pass-through wiring, a mounting bracket, and support for the optional PoE board.
App: Free iOS and Android apps, with Apple Watch and Wear OS. Share access with any number of people, on a schedule you set.
Without the internet: Your phone still controls the door over your home Wi-Fi.
Night Mode: Closes the door again if it opens overnight, between times you set.
Auto-close: Closes a door left open, or notifies you, after a time you set. It is a backup, so keep closing the door yourself.
Auto-open: Opens the door as you arrive, only when an authorized phone and vehicle approach together. iPhone users need the H2 vehicle sensor. Android phones paired with the vehicle do not.
Alerts and pauses: Each alert names who or what moved the door. Partial-open stops the door part way, and Door Disable pauses automations and shared users while you work.
Integrations: Apple HomeKit, Siri, CarPlay through HomeKit, Android Auto, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, IFTTT, Home Assistant, Hubitat, Crestron, Control4, and a local control API, with no subscription or monthly fee.

What's Included
In the box: The control module with its mounting bracket, a USB-C power supply with a country-specific plug, a 3 ft 3 in (1 m) control wire, and wire clips. The J-Track and Universal options add the aluminum door sensor, its bracket, and 32 ft 9 in (10 m) of door sensor wire. The No Door Sensor option has no sensor. Additional door kits are sold separately.
Installation and Compatibility
One mode per controller: Each iQ3 2.1 runs in one mode only, digital, dry contact, or three-button dry contact. Digital and dry contact openers cannot be mixed on one unit, and each controller takes one digital opener. For several digital openers, use one controller per door.
Which option to choose: On Chamberlain and LiftMaster openers, a yellow learn button connects digitally with two wires and needs no door sensor, so the No Door Sensor option fits. No learn button, or a green, orange, or red one, connects by dry contact and needs a door sensor, so choose J-Track or Universal. A purple learn button works either way. Dry contact is not possible with a MyQ wired wall control, and in digital mode the wall control's Light and Lock buttons stop working. Sommer 2060, 2080, and 2110 evo+ openers connect by dry contact and need a door sensor. For a commercial or gate opener, or another brand, send us the model before you order.
J-Track or Universal: The J-Track sensor clamps onto a standard 2 in J-track on a sectional door and is the quicker fit. Choose Universal if a lifting cable bracket at the bottom of the door glides over the J-track, which would hit the J-Track sensor. The Universal sensor mounts above the door or on the floor, and suits other door types and gates.
Not compatible: Chamberlain and LiftMaster openers with a white learn button (Security+ 3.0).
Installation: We do not install. You connect the controller to the opener's terminals, or hire an installer to do it.
Pairs with: Sommer evo+ openers, which take additional door kits, the additional iQ3 2.1 door kit for each further door, the H2 vehicle sensor for iPhone auto-open, and the PoE board, each sold separately.
Warranty
Term: 1 year from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. A defective unit is repaired or replaced at no charge.
Not covered: Parts that wear, including sensors, fuses, relays, and batteries, and damage from moisture, heat, vibration, pressure, corrosion, rough handling, or misuse. Tampering or alteration voids the warranty. Removing or reinstalling equipment is not reimbursed, and there is no liability for loss if auto-open or auto-close fails.
Claims: Contact us first, with your proof of purchase and a short description of the fault.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many doors can one controller run?
Up to three dry contact doors, or one gate. Each door after the first needs an additional iQ3 2.1 door kit.
Can I mix digital and dry contact openers?
No. One controller runs in one mode. For digital openers, use one controller per door.
Will it run a solar gate?
It has 12 to 24 V AC or DC input terminals, so it can run from a battery or low-voltage supply at the gate.
Does it work if the internet goes down?
Yes, while your phone is on your home Wi-Fi network.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. The app, sharing, and integrations carry no subscription. Some third-party integration drivers and in-vehicle apps charge their own fees.
