WHERE IT SITS IN THE RANGE

Six models, one decision: how much ground

Sunseeker builds a ladder rather than a single machine. The step you want is set by plot size first and by how complicated the plot is second — a lawn split into three sections with paths between them asks more of a mower than one open rectangle of the same area.

If your ground sits near the top of a model's stated range, take the next one up. A stated maximum assumes dry grass, few obstacles and a full battery, and real gardens are rarely any of those.

What Sets Sunseeker Apart

Nothing To Bury

The machine maps the property itself instead of following a cable pegged around every bed

Gen 2 Drops The Antenna

The Gen 2 machines carry positioning on board, so there is no separate reference station to site and power

Sunseeker X4 mowing a lawn in planned passes beside a modern home

Wheels For A Fine Lawn

Lighter and quieter than a tracked machine, and kinder to established turf and tight borders

A Ladder, Not One Machine

Six models means you can buy the step that fits the ground rather than over- or under-specifying

The range, by ground covered

Coverage figures as published by Sunseeker. Navigation differs across the range — it is worth matching the method to your plot rather than assuming the range shares one.

ModelPublished coverageSuits
X4Up to 0.3 acreA town garden or a single compact lawn.
X5 Gen 2Up to 0.5 acreA standard suburban plot, front and back.
X7 Gen 2Up to 0.75 acreA larger garden, or one broken into sections.
X7 Plus Gen 2Up to 1.5 acresA small paddock or a generous rural plot.
X9Up to 3 acresGrounds rather than a garden.
X9 PlusUp to 6 acresThe largest single machine we carry.

Not sure which step you need? Our robot mower buying guide explains navigation methods, slopes, and why a stated acreage is a best case rather than a promise.

Before You Order

Shipping and delivery

The larger machines in this range ship freight on a pallet, delivered curbside. We quote the carrier and cost before you order rather than adding it at checkout. See our freight and curbside guide for what to expect on the day.

Setup and site requirements

No boundary wire and no electrician. The machine maps the property on first run. What is worth checking before you order is tree cover and slope: navigation methods vary across this range, and a plot under heavy canopy suits some of them better than others.

Send us a description of the ground — size, slope, tree cover, and whether it is one lawn or several — and we will tell you which model and which navigation method fits, including when the answer is a different brand.

Warranty and returns

Warranty per Sunseeker's published terms for the model concerned. Returns are handled under our return and refund policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coverage, navigation and choosing the right step

No. Every machine in this range maps its own working area, so there is no cable to lay around the lawn or around each flower bed.

The Gen 2 machines carry positioning on board, so there is no separate reference station to site and power. Check the specification for the exact model you are looking at — this differs across the range and it changes what you have to install.

Start with plot size, then adjust for complexity. If your ground is near the top of a model's published figure, take the next step up — a lawn in three sections with paths between them takes considerably longer than one open area of the same acreage.

This is the question worth asking before you order, because navigation methods differ across the range and they do not all handle a dense canopy equally. Describe your plot to us and we will match the method to it. Our buying guide compares the approaches.

It matters on slopes and soft ground. Wheels are lighter, quieter and gentler on established turf, which suits most gardens. If your lawn has a gradient you would think twice about pushing a mower up, or it holds water, a tracked machine is the safer buy.

Generally in light rain, yes. Whether it should is a different question — wet grass clumps and cuts less cleanly, and soft ground marks more easily. Many owners schedule around the forecast for the sake of the lawn rather than the machine.
